逝水流年Joey:美国客人发给我的圣诞节分享………^O^
Joey,
I wish you a new year filled with happiness, health and prosperity.
I would gladly share photos with you.I have looked at pictures from many Christmas celebrations, but fail to find photos that truly express the Christmas experience. Each family has their own traditions, and some families have a very quiet day spent enjoying conversation and new books.Others have a day filled with noisy children, joyous laughter, loud conversations. The most important thing to remember is each family is sharing the joy of the season with loved ones.
Most households have a decorated tree. Some have handmade ornaments from the children, some are very formal. The extent of decorating varies from house to house.
The children visit Santa and let him know what they would like to have him bring them for Christmas. He only brings gifts for the good girls and boys, so parents are always reminding the children that Santa (or his elf) may be watching. You would be surprised how effective it is.
Gifts are exchanged – anything from the very small (and often handmade) to the extravagant. The children are the best to watch open presents. They are excited by almost everything, of course, for the very young it is almost always toys.
Food is also a big part of the day.Huge meals, with rich food are prepared. The whole family will help get the meal together.
At the end of the day everyone – young and old- are exhausted and ready for bed.
The children in the photos are our grandchildren. They each have a Chinese name – Flora’s is Fu Lian and Charley’s is Chi Li.
I hope this helps you understand some of our strange traditions.
Best regards,
Vicki
